The exterior masonry details on this Wilmette custom home feature not only the beautiful brick and mortar combination, but also the dramatic limestone details as seen in these photos.  The contrast of the custom charcoal windows and the standing seam roof over the front porch are stunning!

As construction continues on this Wilmette Custom Home, we are excited to see the exterior coming together with the installation of windows and doors!  These beautifully-crafted custom windows and doors are manufactured and assembled by Lincoln Windows in Merrill, Wisconsin.  Our homeowners selected an aluminum-clad window in a custom charcoal exterior color.  You may also notice that we’ve received a delivery of bricks… the Architectural Series Whitestone Wirecut brick is manufactured by Palmetto Brick (the largest family-owned and operated brick maker in South Carolina). The Whitestone brick will provide a durable and elegant true white contrast to the charcoal windows and doors.

As you may know, there are many phases to new home construction. The rough mechanical phase is in process currently. Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC subcontractors are working inside of this Wilmette custom home installing everything located behind the drywall. This includes the piping, tubing, wiring, and venting products to facilitate the air handlers, faucets, toilets, drains, lighting, and switches throughout the home. Upon completion of the rough mechanical phase and approved inspections, the house is ready for insulation.

For the exterior, windows, exterior brick, and roof shingles will be installed soon!

Seen in these photos, the ice and water shield has been installed.  This waterproof roof underlayment membrane protects the roof from ice and water damage.  Especially in the North Shore area of Chicago, the wind from strong storms can push rainwater beneath the shingles on a roof.  This protective membrane greatly lessens the chance of the wind-driven rain causing a leak in the future.

Installation of the GAF Timberline roof will begin soon!  The architectural color blends and enhanced shadow effect from GAF provide for a genuine wood-shake look for this North Shore custom home.

Wilmette New Construction – SMART Builders begins framing of another North Shore spectacular home.

Working with H. Gary Frank Architects, and collaborating with the homeowner, space, light, and scale are represented in 3D renderings allowing the homeowner to visualize their home as material details are selected along the way.  Providing these renderings is vital in the selection process for the exterior materials and colors. The homeowners have selected a limewash finish for the brick exterior of the home.

One of the most recognizable features on a Colonial style home is its symmetrical structure.  As seen in these renderings, this Modern Colonial design includes pitched gable roofs, a center entrance, symmetrical window composition, and a canopied entry roof.  The open first-floor plan features include an expansive family room and kitchen which all open to the stone patios.
