A Custom French White Oak Floor Created for Timeless Living

For this Northfield home on Chicago’s North Shore, the hardwood flooring was an essential part of establishing the home’s overall tone—clean, classic, and quietly luxurious. A wide plank, high-end French white oak engineered floor was selected to bring warmth, softness, and timeless character throughout the residence.

This flooring was provided and installed by one of SMART Builders’ exclusive vendors, with the final product featuring a proprietary stain and finish developed to achieve the exact look the project required. The process was highly collaborative, with the owner, designer, and SMART Builders working closely alongside the vendor to review numerous options before arriving at the perfect selection for this forever home.

Installed throughout the house, the wide plank floor creates a sense of continuity, elegance, and understated sophistication—serving as a foundation for the home’s architecture, furnishings, and daily living.

January 2023 – Rough Framing of this spectacular residence is almost complete. Roof waterproofing materials have progressively been installed to get the structure water-tight as soon as possible. Marvin Windows to be installed soon.

SMART Builders is pleased to present one of our current projects under construction. This Modern Americana home is located on a private road in the beautiful North Shore community of Northfield.  The home will boast a first-floor primary bedroom, several additional guest bedrooms, a screened-in porch, an art studio, and resort-like grounds. The custom pool will provide a lifetime of entertainment for this forever home.

Architecture team provided animation during design that allowed the client to envision the beauty of the completed home.
