The 7" wide-plank Vintage French Oak floors throughout the home are from the Dutch Haus Collection from Signature Innovations.  The French Oak is wire-brushed finished and features a 2-sided nano beveled edge.  The custom color selection for the floors blends beautifully with the custom-painted cabinetry and brings the serenity of a walk along Lake Michigan Beach into and throughout the home.

SMART Builders, Inc. has collaborated with David A. Schultz Architects to design this Hamptons Style home on a quiet, private lane in Glenview, Illinois.  When you say, "the Hamptons", you image a relaxed lifestyle.  In this home design, you will find a casual and relaxed style done in a very sophisticated way.  The open rooms are bright and breezy, with natural light pouring in, along with a color palette of beachy tones and natural textures.

The exterior of this Glenview custom home features a Western Red Cedar Tapersawn Shake roof and Shakertown Craftsman Cedar Shingle siding installed by SMART Roofing, Inc.   Tapersawn Shakes are sawn on both sides giving it a look similar to a sawn shingle, but with a thicker appearance.  Tapersawn Shakes are known for their smooth uniform look compared to the rustic look of hand-split shakes.  The cedar shingle siding, stacked stone, and white painted Marvin windows, columns and trim are highlighted by the beautiful landscape design by Pamela Self Landscape Architecture.  Copper accents, gutters, and downspouts from Chicago Metal Supply complete this classic Hamptons exterior style.

Custom Brookhaven by Wood-Mode cabinetry and appliances by Sub-Zero, Wolf, Bosch, and Miele were designed and installed by Abruzzo Kitchen and Bath.  The stunning hardwood floors throughout this custom-built home are done in a wide plank, rift and quarter-sawn, white oak, stained in a rich kona finish.  A wood countertop, fabricated by Grothouse, on the expansive kitchen island coordinates with the hardwood floor finish.  Moving through the butler's pantry, you'll find the formal dining room surrounded in custom panel molding, oversized crown and base trim details painted white to contrast with the navy blue wall covering and decor accents.

Other features of this 6,400 sf home include a great room with fireplace on the lower level, spectacular views of the outdoor spaces from the 4-season room and great room, and a unique "home base" area with entries for each garage.  This area includes storage, separate built-in mudroom coat lockers, a sink area, and a built-in desk/hutch area - with access to the rear staircases to the second floor and to the basement.  Everything for that relaxed lifestyle, and more!

This Hamptons-Style home, built by SMART Builders, Inc. and designed by H. Gary Frank Architects is located on an expansive 3-acre lot in the Chicago North Shore City of Lake Forest. The spacious, shingled four-bedroom home features a porch facing lush gardens designed by landscape architect Pamela Self. The porch runs the length of the main floor, and a total of 11 fireplaces offer warm places to convene. Another primary aim, for the Lake Forest family, was to surround the house with naturalistic, grassy gardens inspired by Dutch landscape master Piet Oudolf, known for his work on Lurie Garden in Chicago and the High Line in New York. The beautiful garden setting includes 60,000 bulbs from Roy Diblik, of Northwood Perennial Farm, who teamed with Oudolf on the aforementioned gardens. Builder Richard Bondarowicz, of SMART Builders, and architect, Gary Frank, gave this Lake Forest residence a Hamptons feel with a tapersawn cedar shake roof from Smart Roofing, Inc. For the interiors, Chicago Interior Designer Marshall Erb collaborated with the design-build team to enhance the detailing and conceptualize the use of the rooms. Erb, whose background is in architecture, notes that Frank's understanding of classical architecture helped set the stage for comfortable rooms despite the home's size. This French Country style home, built by SMART Builders, Inc. and designed by Tinaglia Architects, is located on a .5 acre lot in the Chicago Northwest Suburban area of Arlington Heights.  The exterior displays elegant curb appeal with the steeply pitched hipped roofs, an asymmetrical footprint, and a rustic stone and stucco facade.  Beautiful multi-paned windows by Kolbe & Kolbe, are trimmed in limestone adding artful detail, especially to the arch-topped windows and sills.

The hipped roofs, expertly installed by SMART Roofing, Inc., feature CertainTeed Grand Manor shingles.  This luxurious multi-layered shingle replicates the depth and dimension of slate with the assurance of a lifetime warranty.  Also, of note are the outdoor spaces designed by John Fitzgerald (JKF Landscape) and installed by Rooney Landscape, featuring native grasses and perennials, and an integrated firepit with seating wall.  If you'd rather stay inside, the 3-season screened room also has a fireplace!

As they were designing their forever home, these homeowners incorporated an "aging in place" plan with a bedroom and en-suite bathroom on the first floor.  In the meantime, this space provides a welcoming guest or in-law suite!  The 6,000 square foot home has 9- and 10-foot ceilings, 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 2nd-floor laundry room, and a finished basement with home office, family room, gaming area, exercise room, finished storage, a full bath, and a kitchenette.
